Donald Trump says he’s still interested in buying the NHS, but that Boris Johnson will have to serve it up on a gold platter if he wants a deal.
On Tuesday the US President stated he wouldn’t want the NHS even if it was handed to him on a silver platter, but later explained that it was the choice of platter that had soured the controversial deal.
Speaking at an impromptu press conference, held outside the Woking branch of Pizza Express, Mr Trump said the NHS and its female nurses would definitely be up for grabs as part of a post-Brexit trade deal between the UK and the US.
Clarifying his earlier statement about the silver platter, he told reporters, “I’m a gold man because silver’s for losers who come second, like Nigel that time we played the biscuit game in the Oval Office.
“Look at me. I’ve got great golden hair and my skin is naturally gold in colour. I’ve got a golden tower with a golden toilet in it that I sit on to Tweet my solid gold wisdom out to a grateful world.
Asked if he’d enjoyed his pizza and whether Prince Andrew had recommended the restaurant to him, Mr Trump denied knowing the disgraced royal, eating pizza or ever having set foot in Woking.
