Donald Trump has responded to renewed calls for his impeachment by insisting his “healthy orange glow” is his natural skin tone.
In a series of Tweets, Trump slammed members of the Democratic Party who began a formal impeachment inquiry into the US President yesterday.
Top Democrat Nancy Pelosi clarified that the president “must be held accountable”, but his choice of fake tanning product was not under investigation at this time.
Mr Trump has denied using artificial face pigment, tweeting: “My skin is the best and a lot of people say so!!!!! Rumours about me being IN PEACH is FAKE NEWS about FAKE TANS!!!!!
“I play a lot of golf, and my natural orange hue is topped up by 100% Mar-a-Lago sunshine.”
House Democrats initiated impeachment proceedings after a whistleblower from within the US intelligence community claimed that Trump discussed the use of a “classified chemical substance” with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Transcripts of calls between the two leaders have not been released, but Washington insiders believed that Trump could have promised to share details of the top-secret polymer glue he uses on his hair.
The holding power of the aerosol-based super glue could revolutionise the construction industry and has been classified as a state secret until it can be fully commercialised.
